Horizon found their leader in sophomore Neveah Stukas, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Stukas. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlin Schumann, who put up eight points along with nine boards and three blocks.
Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Monarch beat Holy Family 47-38 on Tuesday.
Monarch found their leader in sophomore Sienna Williams, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 23 rebounds. The match was Williams' third in a row with at least ten points. Charlotte Weiss was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.
Horizon's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Monarch, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Horizon has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Monarch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 39.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Horizon won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2024, slipping by Monarch 59-58. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Williams, who shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 31 points and 19 boards. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Horizon still be able to contain Williams? There's only one way to find out.
