Compiled By Stephen SpiewakMaxPreps.com1. Morgan to UCLA: South Oak Cliff center J'Mison Morgan (see
video) appears to be reneging on the letter of intent he signed to attend Louisiana State. Though it's not yet official, it seems that Morgan is seeking to head to UCLA, where he would help ease the loss of Kevin Love (see
video), who recently declared for the NBA draft. According to quotes from J'Mison's brother Ronnie, it was UCLA's constant appearance on national television that swayed the decision. The
Los Angeles Daily News has the details of the Bruins' major coup.
2. Good Job by Jobi: Faith Christian High School (Colo.) pitcher Jobi Wall had just about the best game you could possibly envision. Not only did Wall throw a perfect game, but he also had a monster performance at the plate, hitting for the cycle. It's something that definitely has never happened at the Major League level, and possibly has never occurred on the high school level. Colorado officials are trying to determine if Wall's feat could be the first dual perfect game/cycle ever.
The Denver Post has the report.
3. LAX Pacts: Georgetown Prep and Landon are two of the most well-respected lacrosse programs in the country, often sending recruits to top collegiate programs in the Northeast.
The Gazette, a Maryland newspaper,
tells the story of Georgetown University's lacrosse team, composed of several players from both
Georgetown Prep and
Landon. Former adversaries on the high school field, the players from each school unite at Georgetown and look beyond old high school rivalries--at least most of the time. The story mentions the brief divide on the team, as the alumni split down party lines while getting live updates when Georgetown Prep and Landon met again recently.
4. Starting Over: The Philadelphia Daily News tells the curious tale of former
Harriton High School (Pa.) star defensive lineman Callahan Bright. Late in 2004, Bright was Tom Lemming's first selection to participate in the U.S. Army All-American game. Since then, a series of bad decisions has left Bright far from his dreams of getting drafted to play in the NFL. At one time, ESPN was airing his college commitment to Florida State. Now, Bright is attempting to start over, playing at a Division II school in North Carolina. Click

5. Friday Night Brouhaha: Last season, Appalachian State captured the hearts of fans across the country, while simultaneously crushing those of fans in Michigan. This season, Appalachian State is moving its Nov. 1 game against Wofford up one day, to Friday night, so that it can be nationally televised. Many North Carolina high schools are upset by this, as it appears the trend of colleges playing games on what traditionally has been a night reserved for high school football is growing. How are North Carolina high school coaches fighting back? In some cases, they're telling schools that play on Friday nights to not recruit their players. Here is the
entire story on a developing beef in the Tar Heel State.
