Danville extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping them up to 15-3. They blew past the Washington County Commanders 14-2. Considering the Admirals have won 13 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaycee Morse was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Foster, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. DreAna White was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Danville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.
As for Washington County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since March 24th.
On Washington County's side, Ariana Gonzalez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Looking ahead, Danville will head out to square off against Bardstown at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.23 runs per game on average), something the Admirals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Washington County, they will host Bethlehem at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Commanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
