After flying high against the Lake City Community 14ers on Friday, the Creede Miners came back down to earth. Creede suffered a tough 58-38 defeat at the hands of Cripple Creek-Victor on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Creede has suffered since December 1, 2023.
Creede lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Will Roden, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Roden has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Fazio, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Creede has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Cripple Creek-Victor, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.
Creede will look to defend their home court on Friday against Sierra Grande at 6:30 p.m. As for Cripple Creek-Victor, they will head out on the road to challenge Pikes Peak Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pikes Peak Christian is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
