The biggest upset of the week belonged to Taft, who took down 608th ranked Chavez, 50-8. Vaughn Richardson threw for 136 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 10 yards in the win.
The Wildcats moved up to 560 from 631 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in South Sequoia. Taft was able to make the jump by defeating the Titans 50-8.
Terrance Grinner was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 183 yards on 12 carries as Wasco topped Chavez. Teammate Isaiah Sharp added to the ground attack by rushing for 149 yards.
Gee was the best wideout in the league this week as the Wildcats beat Sergio Barajas' team. Gee racked up five receptions for 79 yards. Mati Fa'Agau helped Taft's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
Taft's Richardson and Gee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading South Sequoia in both passing and receiving yards. Richardson has thrown for 1138 yards this season, while Gee, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 38 catches for 812 yards. Sharp from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 1056 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Arvin takes on Shafter. The Bears are currently in fourth, while the Generals are in second.
Wasco extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bakersfield Christian, 49-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for Russ Prado's team.
