Even though the Bloomington North Cougars have not done well against the Perry Meridian Falcons recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Bloomington North came out on top against Perry Meridian by a score of 47-34. Given Bloomington North's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Perry Meridian is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bloomington North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mia Robbennolt led the charge by scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Robbennolt's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Ashley Stegemoller was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Bloomington North's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Perry Meridian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomington North will challenge Eastern Greene at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Eastern Greene focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. Perry Meridian is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd.
