The Remington Broncos won the last time they faced the Marion Warriors, and things went their way on Thursday too. Remington walked away with a 44-31 win over Marion. Given Remington's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Marion is ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Marion lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grace Hett. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with two steals.
Marion struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The win makes it two in a row for Remington and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Remington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West Elk at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Marion will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Wakefield at 3:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Wakefield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 back in December of 2023.
