Milford hasn't had much luck against Westville recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bearcats will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Milford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Milford needed a bit of extra time to put away Covington. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 8-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bearcats.
Kami Muehling was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing eight innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Muehling was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Addison Lucht was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Jossalin Lavicka was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Westville came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Trojans 13-1. Considering the Tigers have won 16 contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Taylor Valangeon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lani Gondzur, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Jazmyn Bennett, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Westville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in 20 consecutive games.
Westville pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Milford, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Milford hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Westville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Milford suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Westville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Bearcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
