Allen East is 2-8 against Bluffton since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Allen East Mustangs will look to defend their home court against the Bluffton Pirates at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Allen East has ten straight victories, Bluffton has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Allen East gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 50-27 margin over Botkins. Given Allen East's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Botkins is ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Allen East got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rilynn Jones out in front who scored 19 points along with three steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Soraya Jackson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bluffton was beaten by Columbus Grove 52-19 on Thursday. Bluffton has struggled against Columbus Grove recently, as their match on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Allen East is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. As for Bluffton, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-14.
Allen East strolled past Bluffton in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 by a score of 55-37. Does Allen East have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bluffton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
