The biggest upset of the week belonged to Trinity, who took down 214th ranked Trinity, 26-17.
West Mifflin extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL AAA Big Nine this week by beating Elizabeth Forward, 27-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Titans.
Thomas Jefferson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joe Carroll threw for 120 and two touchdowns and Zach Schademan had 77 yards receiving. On the ground Jake Farrell chipped in 106 yards. Jake Mascaro helped Thomas Jefferson's passing attack out by catching two balls for 32 yards.
The Jaguars' Carroll and Schademan have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Carroll has thrown for 1114 yards this season, while Schademan, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 29 catches for 562 yards. West Mifflin's James Wheeler leads the league in rushing yards with 1061.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Belle Vernon takes on Thomas Jefferson. The Leopards are in sixth place, while Bill Cherpak's team is in second place.
Belle Vernon moved up to 340 from 406 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AAA Big Nine. Aaron Krepps' team climbed the ranks as a result of a 26-17 win over the Hillers.
