The Ash Grove Pirates will square off against the Stockton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Ash Grove's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Stockton has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
On Thursday, Ash Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Pierce City and fell 3-2.
Ash Grove actually scored more points across those five sets (106-105), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 17-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13.
Meanwhile, Stockton beat Pleasant Hope 3-1 on Thursday.
Stockton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-11, 25-15, 25-20.
Ash Grove better focus on containing Shia Roberts and Aleah Daulton as the pair were huge in Stockton's win. Roberts had 17 digs and two aces, while Daulton had 18 assists and 11 digs. That's the most aces Roberts has posted over her last seven contests.
Stockton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Stockton picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-14-2. As for Ash Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9-1.
