The Montverde Academy Eagles will face off against the Lake Brantley Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Montverde Academy 1.6, Lake Brantley 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Montverde Academy barely beat The First Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Montverde Academy's pitcher stepped up to hand The First Academy a 17-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Nevaeh Williams looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Miranda Murch, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colby Reish, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Montverde Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lake Brantley put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Apopka by a score of 5-1.
Belle Rosales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
At the plate, Lake Brantley's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Catharine Conway, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Lake Brantley pushed their record up to 12-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Montverde Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Montverde Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Brantley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Montverde Academy couldn't quite get it done against Lake Brantley when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Will Montverde Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
