Basketball Recap: William Weathington's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Mary's over Tracy

St. Mary was the 66-39 winner over Tracy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Mary's Rams fell just short of the Tracy Bulldogs by a score of 51-48 on Wednesday. The Rams' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was William Weathington, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points. Jayden Hinkston was another key player, putting up ten points and five assists.

Even though they lost, St. Mary's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Tracy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Kimball the next time they take the court. St. Mary's will host Kimball at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Tracy will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
