Ontario Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Salazar, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave Salazar a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Jace-Lejay, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds.
Ontario Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Woodcrest Christian lost to Aquinas at home by a 59-40 margin on Tuesday. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ontario Christian will need focus on slowing down Isaac Lytle, one of several Woodcrest Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 14 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Carlson, who put up 15 points.
Ontario Christian has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Woodcrest Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ontario Christian has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Woodcrest Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
