Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Klein Cain Hurricanes, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 55-41 to the Mustangs. Klein Cain's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Klein Cain still got an impressive performance from Darius Rodgers, who rushed for 262 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Rodgers' longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Jaelon Dixon also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
It was another big night for Taji Atkins, who rushed for 403 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 16.1 yards per carry for Westfield. Atkins hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games. Miles Dent also helped out as he racked up 115 rushing yards.
Klein Cain's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Westfield, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Klein Cain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Westfield will be playing at home against Rockwall at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rockwall knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Westfield likes a good challenge.
