Independence waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Potomac Falls Panthers as they made off with an 11-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-1 on Tuesday.

Kayden Pak tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Halliday Fulcher and Andraya Santos did most of the damage at the plate: Fulcher went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Santos went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and four RBI. Santos has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Stringer, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Independence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Independence's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Potomac Falls, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Independence will welcome Broad Run at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Independence's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Potomac Falls, they will head out to square off against Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
