Pleasant Grove hasn't had much luck against Herriman recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Vikings will welcome the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. Pleasant Grove will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Pleasant Grove is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Westlake, who was ranked seventh at the time (Pleasant Grove was ranked 11th). The Vikings won by a run and slipped past the Thunder 3-2. The three-run effort marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Keslie Draney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maya Parry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, while Herriman put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Layton. The Mustangs blew past the Lancers 16-0. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 12 runs or more this season.
Herriman also got a great performance from Sierra Prescott as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddy Maxfield, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Quintero, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Herriman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Herriman pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Pleasant Grove's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Herriman, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pleasant Grove continue to outrun the ball?
Pleasant Grove came out on top in a nail-biter against Herriman when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
