Lakeland put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They never let the Tenoroc Titans get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. Considering the Dreadnaughts have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Paige Bettcher was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Brooke Martinez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Davenport, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Lakeland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Lakeland is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Tenoroc, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
As of now, neither Lakeland nor the Titans have any future games scheduled.
