Basketball Recap: Brunswick Skates Past Statesboro with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Brunswick on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Statesboro Blue Devils out of the water with a 60-33 final score. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Martin Davis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up nine points and seven steals. Davis is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauryn Walker, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 26 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Statesboro lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lindsay Johnson, who had eight points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Myers, who put up six points and three blocks.

Brunswick is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.4 points. As for Statesboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-13.

Brunswick will take on Bradwell Institute at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bradwell Institute will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Brunswick surely won't give up without a fight. As for Statesboro, they will square off against Glynn Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
