The Murray Spartans won the last time they faced the Kearns Cougars, and things went their way on Thursday too. Murray had just enough and edged Kearns out 50-48. Winning is a bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, as Murray did.
Murray can attribute much of their success to Mia Auclaire, who scored 24 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Auclaire has scored at least 25% of Murray's points. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Anaafi, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylee Glade, who scored 9 points. Glade is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Adhau Chol was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 8 rebounds.
Murray's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Kearns, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murray is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. As for Kearns, they will take on Tooele at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Tooele focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
