The Wilsonville Wildcats's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Canby Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Wilsonville was able to grind out a solid win over La Salle, taking the game 52-45. Given Wilsonville's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while La Salle is ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Canby scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They strolled past Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts with points to spare, taking the game 93-77. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jack Brauckmiller was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Michel, who scored 22 points along with five assists.
Wilsonville's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. As for Canby, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Wilsonville against Canby in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-40 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Canby's Connor Gensman, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Wilsonville to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
