Grove City is 1-9 against Lincoln since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Grove City Greyhounds will be staying on the road to face off against the Lincoln Golden Lions at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Grove City didn't have too much trouble with Hilliard Davidson on the road as they won 38-22.
Matthew Papas had an outrageously good game as he threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns while completing 89.5% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Grove City also got help from Jeremiah King who showed off his sure hands for 125 receiving yards.
Grove City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Myles Hutchinson.
Meanwhile, Lincoln put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Reynoldsburg at home to the tune of 51-20. Considering Lincoln has won six contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Diore Hubbard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 139 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also catching a touchdown. Hubbard is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last eight games he's played. Jayden Lewis was another major influence, as he rushed for 42 yards and ran in a TD.
Grove City now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Lincoln, their win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0.
Grove City was dealt a bruising 56-28 defeat at the hands of Lincoln in their previous matchup back in October. Can Grove City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
