Dayspring Christian Academy never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Caliche last Saturday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 66-18 victory over the Buffaloes. The win was some much needed relief for Dayspring Christian Academy as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dayspring Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Kayl, who rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for six yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Peyton Coleman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Sedgwick County faced Haxtun in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sedgwick County ended up on the wrong side of a rough 52-26 walloping at the hands of Haxtun on Friday. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Sedgwick County's loss came about despite a quality game from Jaxon Carlson, who rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Brady Mollendor also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.
Dayspring Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Sedgwick County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
