It was a good run, but the Bridgeport Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 47-40 to Chase County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bridgeport has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Bridgeport saw an underclassman step up: Hayes Watts scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Logan Metz, who scored ten points.
Bridgeport struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Chase County pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Jensen Olsen was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds for Chase County. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Mays, who scored nine points.
Bridgeport's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2. As for Chase County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bridgeport will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ogallala at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. After both having extra time off, Chase County and Dundy County-Stratton will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another on January 2, 2024. Hopefully Dundy County-Stratton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
