The Lewis-Palmer Rangers waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Discovery Canyon 52-33. Given Lewis-Palmer's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Discovery Canyon is ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lewis-Palmer found their leader in underclassman Rylee Edmondson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Edmondson is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Kendall Lane, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Discovery Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Neuhaus, who scored ten points along with three steals. Neuhaus hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Meghan Storch was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Lewis-Palmer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Discovery Canyon, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Lewis-Palmer will head out on the road to take on Air Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Air Academy is on a six-game streak of home wins, Lewis-Palmer a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Discovery Canyon will take on Palmer Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Palmer Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
