On Friday, the Cedaredge Bruins's game was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Aspen by a score of 30-19. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cedaredge.
Cedaredge can attribute much of their success to Carley Malinowski, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Malinowski has scored at least 25% of Cedaredge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Brooks, who scored seven points.
When it comes to explaining why Aspen lost, one person who can't be blamed is Madeline Lee. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Lee scored a full 57.9% of Aspen's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Cedaredge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Aspen, they bumped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedaredge will take on Coal Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Aspen won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Basalt at 7:00 p.m. on December 9th. Basalt comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
