Canajoharie has gone 8-2 against Mayfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Canajoharie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Canajoharie took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons as they made off with a 28-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Golden Knights: they've now won three in a row.
Conner Mueller looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Canajoharie got a massive performance out of Aiden Bowerman, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and three doubles. Bowerman has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Sullevan Stinson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
Canajoharie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Middleburgh, falling 14-2.
Cubby Roth (C) was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Benjamin Wicklund also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Canajoharie's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Mayfield, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Mayfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Canajoharie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. It's a different story for Mayfield, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Canajoharie's hitters?
Canajoharie couldn't quite finish off Mayfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
