Baseball Recap: Maclay Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Maclay had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They blew past the Rockledge Raiders 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ben Wagnon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Beau Beshears, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Poppell, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Maclay's record now sits at 12-5. As for Rockledge, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-11.

Coming up, Maclay will welcome Taylor County at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rockledge, they have already played their next matchup, a 6-3 defeat against Melbourne on the 31st.
