Sidney extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-17 in the process. They fell 7-4 to the Northmont Thunderbolts. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 14-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Sidney got a good showing from Elijah Cotterman, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Cotterman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ashton Rose was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
As for Northmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
On Northmont's side, Brady Lupton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lupton was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Northmont's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-0-1 (and 8-11 when he doesn't).
In other pitching news, Cameron Knight and Kaden Nickell dominated on the mound. Knight pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits, while Nickell pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Nickell has become a key player for Northmont: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10-1 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Chase Fuduloff was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base.
Coming up, Sidney will challenge Versailles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northmont, they will take on Bethel at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
