The Craigmont Chiefs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to Brighton at home by a decisive 43-27 margin. Craigmont was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brighton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Brighton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayla Jones out in front who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Da'lyjah Maclin was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Craigmont has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Brighton, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Craigmont will square off against Millington Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brighton, they will head out on the road to square off against Raleigh-Egypt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Raleigh-Egypt comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
