Basketball Recap: Chambers/Wheeler Central Comes Up Short

Chambers/Wheeler Central lost against Elgin/Pope John back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades took a blow against the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack, falling 65-34. The Renegades were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-19.

Chambers/Wheeler Central's loss came despite strong showings from Annabel Waldo and Savannah Hansen. Waldo posted seven points and five boards, while Hansen earned seven points. That's the most points Hansen has posted since back in December of 2024.

Elgin/Pope John got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braelyn Martinsen out in front who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kate Furstenau, who put up 15 points.

Chambers/Wheeler Central has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Elgin/Pope John, their record now sits at 15-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chambers/Wheeler Central will head out to square off against Stuart at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elgin/Pope John, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Chambers/Wheeler Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th.
