The Pike Red Devils will square off against the Warren Central Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pike is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Pike is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Ben Davis 19-4 on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Red Devils with their most commanding win of the season.
Lincoln Sigmund made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Rory Weaver and Jimquell Young, Jr did most of the damage at the plate: Weaver got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Young, Jr went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Weaver is becoming a predictor of Pike's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jaden Phelps, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Pike kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Davis only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Warren Central fell victim to Indianapolis Bishop Chatard and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 14-0 to the Trojans. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Warren Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Vokes, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Vokes has hit this season.
Warren Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-1 record this season. As for Pike, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pike has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. However, it's not like Warren Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pike took their win against Warren Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-4 score. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
