The Fremont Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Lincoln High 54-48. Fremont was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lincoln High apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Fremont's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Mcclain, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kate Denker, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Ayana Owens was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Lincoln High. That's the first time this season that Owens pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordynn Collins, who scored 16 points.
Fremont's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.9 points per game. As for Lincoln High, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fremont will take on Lincoln Southeast at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Southeast will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Lincoln High, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Omaha North at 5:15 p.m. Omaha North is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
