The West Craven Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Ayden - Grifton on the road to the tune of 71-30. West Craven's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Craven to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shalawn Yates, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Yates has scored at least 25% of West Craven's points. Torvonyah Heggie was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
West Craven pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Ayden - Grifton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Craven will be home for the holidays to greet Northside - Jacksonville at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northside - Jacksonville is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Ayden - Grifton will be home for the holidays to greet Spring Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spring Creek presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ayden - Grifton in North Carolina (Spring Creek is ranked 221st, while Ayden - Grifton is ranked 539th).
