The Oak Ridge Trojans will take on the Rocklin Thunder at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Oak Ridge 1.8, Rocklin 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Oak Ridge heads into the contest have just come up short against nationally ranked Del Oro (Oak Ridge was ranked 19th at the time). The Trojans fell in a 4-2 heartbreaker to the Golden Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Trojans have suffered since June 1, 2024.
Emery Glaser was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Rocklin hadn't beaten Folsom on the road since April 25, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Thunder walked away with a 7-2 win over the Bulldogs.
Payton Prior spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brooke Lomelli was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kylee Rogers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Rocklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Folsom only posted a batting average of .200.
Rocklin is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Oak Ridge, their defeat ended a 17-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-2.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oak Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Rocklin struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oak Ridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Rocklin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
