Two dominant players in Landon Bonner and Antonio ??tone?? scott are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Putnam County War Eagles will jump right back in to play the Veterans Warhawks at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Putnam County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully Veterans likes a good challenge.
Even though Rutland scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Putnam County still came out on top. Putnam County snuck past Rutland with a 60-55 win. Given Putnam County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Rutland is ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Westside scored an imposing 61 points on Thursday, Veterans still came out on top. Veterans walked away with a 69-61 win over Westside. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Veterans.
Putnam County's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Veterans, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Putnam County was taken down by Veterans 76-36 in their previous meeting back in November of 2019. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Putnam County was down 44-17.
