Basketball Recap: Kimberly Drops Highest Score of Season Against Filer

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kimberly). They breezed by the Filer Wildcats to the tune of 74-46 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 51.1 points per game.

Kimberly was led to victory by Taya Plew and Brooklyn Verwey. Plew posted 22 points and six boards, while Verwey went 5 for 7 en route to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The contest was Plew's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ady Osborne, who had eight points and seven boards.

Kimberly smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Kimberly has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Filer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Kimberly will square off against Gooding at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Kimberly has won four straight at home, while Gooding won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Filer, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wood River at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
