The Lee Christian Falcons suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 88-50 defeat at the hands of Cape Fear Christian Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Lee Christian has suffered against Cape Fear Christian Academy since November 17, 2020.
Despite the loss, Lee Christian still got an impressive performance from Daniel Rumbold, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Rumbold is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 11 games he's played. Todd Gatten was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds.
It was another big night for Zeke Brock, who shot 8-for-12 from long range and dropped a double-double on 44 points and ten assists for Cape Fear Christian Academy. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brock has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Scarborough, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Lee Christian and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee Christian and Crossroads Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crossroads Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lee Christian in North Carolina (Crossroads Christian is ranked 187th, while Lee Christian is ranked 439th). As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, they will square off against Cresset Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Cresset Christian Academy: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Cape Fear Christian Academy has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
