The Alton Redbirds won the last time they faced the Collinsville Kahoks, and things went their way on Thursday too. Alton walked away with a 65-52 victory over Collinsville. Given Alton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Collinsville is ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Collinsville still got an impressive performance from Talesha Gilmore, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 48.1% of Collinsville's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ella Guererro, who scored 12 points.
Alton's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-2. As for Collinsville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-17.
Alton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Granite City at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th. Collinsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
