The Richfield Wildcats will take on the Skyridge Falcons in a tournament on Saturday. Richfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Richfield was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Varsity Opponent on Friday. Richfield blew past Varsity Opponent 19-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mataiya Murray made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Jerzy Moon was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaycee McKinlay, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Richfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Skyridge unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Rigby, falling 13-2.
Skyridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Ford, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
Richfield's record now sits at 2-4. As for Skyridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Richfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Skyridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Richfield took their win against Skyridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 8-2. Will Richfield repeat their success, or does Skyridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
