Layla Burt showed up in a big way on Tuesday, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Thanks to that strong showing, she's now averaging 5.1 strikeouts per game. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was her ninth in a row with less than two walks. On the year, Burt has an ERA of 1.58 over 84.3 innings pitched.

Burt's strong effort led Loyd Star over West Lincoln and she'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
