This season hasn't been kind to the Lakeland Lakers, who are still winless after their 13th game. They took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westview on Tuesday. Lakeland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westview apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Lakeland still got an impressive performance from Olivia Oman, who scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Ryan, who scored ten points.
Even though they lost, Lakeland were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Hope Bortner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Westview, scoring 29 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Morgan Riegsecker, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Lakeland's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-13. As for Westview, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-12.
Lakeland is on the road again on Saturday and play against Fort Wayne South Side at 8:00 a.m. on December 23rd. Fort Wayne South Side is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Westview won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mishawaka at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th.
