The Fordyce Redbugs pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Junction City. Fordyce lost against Junction City in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 63-28 score last time.
Leading Junction City to victory were Montra Hankton and Deontae James. Hankton scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while James scored 20 points along with six assists and three steals. Hankton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Pechone Larry, who scored eight points.
Fordyce now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Junction City, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fordyce will take on Parkers Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Junction City, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gurdon at 7:00 p.m. Gurdon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Junction City is ranked 122nd).
