It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Pueblo Warriors ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 58-49 victory over Canyon del Oro. The win was just what Pueblo needed coming off of a 63-40 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pueblo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aiden Cruz, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Maya, who scored seven points along with nine assists and four steals.
Canyon del Oro's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mykael Nunez, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Will Dixion who scored 13 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nunez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Gill, who scored four points along with two steals.
Pueblo's win bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Canyon del Oro, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-7 record this season.
Pueblo will head out on the road to challenge Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Cholla's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Pueblo has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road. Canyon del Oro will take on Salpointe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
