De La Salle is 2-0 against DePaul College Prep since October of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The De La Salle Meteors will look to defend their home field against the DePaul College Prep Rams at 7:00 p.m. De La Salle is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, De La Salle was beaten by IC Catholic Prep 55-20. While losing is never fun, De La Salle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 175th, while IC Catholic Prep is ranked 24th).
Despite the defeat, De La Salle saw an underclassman step up: Kenyonte Louis rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but DePaul College Prep ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 44-43 win over Fenwick. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
DePaul College Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Titus Bautista out in front who picked up 106 receiving yards, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Bautista was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 64 yards. Fernando Rodriguez was another key contributor, throwing for 252 yards and three touchdowns.
DePaul College Prep's win bumped their season record to 4-4 while De La Salle's defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
De La Salle strolled past DePaul College Prep in their previous matchup back in March of 2021 by a score of 33-14. Will De La Salle repeat their success, or does DePaul College Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
