The Lincoln Southeast Knights came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Fremont by a score of 73-60. Given Lincoln Southeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Fremont is ranked 175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln Southeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deng Giet, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Giet continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Hilkemann, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, Fremont still got an impressive performance from Maurice Bryant, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assist. Another player making a difference was Caden Kolm, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Lincoln Southeast's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Fremont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln Southeast will take on Westview at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Westview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday. As for Fremont, they will be playing at home against Omaha North at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Omaha North has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 332 points over their last five matches.
