The Williston Red Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Forest Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Williston sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Middleburg. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.
Emily Asencion spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Luna Asencion was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Brooklyn Bertrand was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Forest faced off against Dunnellon on Thursday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 9-6. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won nine in a row.
Forest let Reagan Quinn and Olivia Lewis run wild. Quinn went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Lewis went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Lewis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mahri Lingle, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
The victory got Williston back to even at 7-7. As for Forest, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Williston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Williston's way against Forest in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Williston made off with a 12-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
