After flying high against Making Waves Academy two weeks ago, Kennedy came back down to earth. The Kennedy Eagles wound up on the wrong side of a rough 31-1 walloping at the hands of the De Anza Dons on Wednesday. Kennedy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as De Anza apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
For De Anza's part, Ma'Yhana Moore made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Moore was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and a double.
In other batting news, De Anza got a massive performance out of Riana Everetts, who went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, three runs, and a triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Giselle Taylor, who scored six runs and stole a base while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.
Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7-2. As for De Anza, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season.
While Kennedy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
