Spencer Werner and Maddux Najera stepped up to the plate in a big way. Werner scored two runs and stole six bases while going 1-for-3, while Najera scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Najera is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavin Caldwell, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Conifer had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 11-8 win over Littleton on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lobos considering their one-run performance the match before.
The team relied heavily on Luke Adams, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dillon Tracy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Conifer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Pomona's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Conifer, their record now sits at 2-8.
Conifer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pomona hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Conifer, though, as they've only averaged .226. Will they be able to contain Pomona's hitters?
Pomona came up short against Conifer in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 9-5. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
