The Calaveras Red Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 62-53 win over Central Valley. The victory was just what Calaveras needed coming off of a 70-46 defeat in their prior game.
Corbin Curran was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Ryan Mcdaniel was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Despite the loss, Central Valley still got an impressive performance from Jellmar Mata, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Rodriguez, who scored seven points.
Calaveras has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Central Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Calaveras will head out on the road to face off against Escalon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Escalon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Calaveras in California (Escalon is ranked 310th, while Calaveras is ranked 818th). Central Valley and Buhach Colony will face off at 4:00 p.m. on December 27, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
